Harry and Margaret Moore Foundation

The Moore Foundation was established in 1959 by Harry W. Moore, an inventive entrepreneur who had a vision to provide machines and tools that aided electric motor manufacturers in improving productivity and quality of their products. In 1959, Mr. Moore was the majority stockholder in The Globe Tool & Engineering Company of Dayton that became a world leader in providing electric motor production equipment to manufacturers of small home appliances, power tools and automotive electric motors. Mr. Moore’s principal priorities for The Foundation were to make student loans available to deserving students at non-sectarian colleges at reasonable interest rates and to provide, through the making of charitable grants to deserving charitable organizations, aid to those in need.

Impact

Over the years, The Moore Foundation has helped hundreds of students via loans and scholarships and provided thousands of dollars for aid to individuals and organizations promoting the well-being of mankind. In 2002, they established an endowment with the Clark State Foundation which has provided annual scholarship support for Clark State students. Moore Foundation Trustee, Jim Doyle, shares that “Almost all of us had a connection to Globe Tool and we get great satisfaction seeing the vision of Mr. Moore live on.”
