Clark State Emergency Fund

Clark State’s Emergency Fund provides assistance to students at risk of dropping out of college due to unexpected financial emergencies, not expected or known in advance. The assistance was created to help students stay in college and meet their educational goals, ultimately, securing a better financial future.

ELIGIBLE EXPENSES MAY INCLUDE: Child Care, Food/Meals, Gas, Housing/Rent, Medical/Dental Expenses, Personal Automobile Expenses, Public Transportation/Bus Pass, and Utilities. Tuition may be considered on a case by case basis.

NON-ELIGIBLE EXPENSES INCLUDE: Alcohol, Entertainment Expenses, Legal Fees, Program-related Exams, Medical Tests, and Tobacco

CURRENT STUDENT PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Maximum award not to exceed $500 for students who meet the following criteria:

  • Must have a 2.0 GPA or higher
  • Be currently enrolled in 6 or more credit hours
  • Have completed one term at Clark State College
  • Have not received an award within the current semester
  • Have not received 3 awards (3 award limit)

NEW STUDENT PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maximum award not to exceed $250 for students who meet the following criteria:
  • Be currently enrolled in 6 or more credit hours
  • Have not received an award within the current semester
  • Assistance is granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.

APPLICATION PROCESS
Complete and submit the online application.

INTERVIEW
If you meet the eligibility criteria, an interview will be scheduled for you to talk with an emergency fund advisor. If you do not currently receive SNAP assistance, you will be required to complete and submit the Ohio Department Job and Family Services Application for Cash, Food, or Medical Assistance. A final funding decision cannot be determined until the Application for Assistance has been received.

FOLLOW-UP
You will receive an email, within one to two business days, following your interview to inform you of your award eligibility and any next steps.

PAYMENTS
If you are approved for funding, the administrator will work with you to make payment arrangements. You will have the option to either pick up a check or one can be mailed directly to the vendor. If the grant is in the form of a gift card, you will be required to submit a receipt for the eligible expenses paid.
